Onderling
Your data, your messages, your assistant. You decide who you share with, and nobody gets in between.
What among ourselves means
Onderling is Dutch for "among ourselves". It is how we build, and who we build for.
- Your data stays yours. Kept on your own devices or in storage that is yours, and usable by every tool made the same way, so you never start over.
- What you share stays with the group. A circle's things live on its members' own devices. Only the members, and the tools they allow, can read them. No company in between, and nothing collected.
- An assistant you can trust. Yours alone. It does what you ask, with or without AI, and what it knows stays with you.
- Shaped to your needs. Made of parts: use what you need, replace what you do not, build on it. The code is open, so anyone can.
Try Basis
Basis is the first thing built on these ideas, and what you can use today. It is in development and in daily use.
- The Basis app, in your browser or on your phone: make a circle, invite people with a link, and keep a conversation, lists, tasks and a calendar together.
- The same assistant from Telegram. One household runs its shopping list, chores and reminders by messaging their assistant in Telegram, without opening the app.
- A device that stays on. Run your assistant on a small machine at home, so it answers and keeps your circles up to date while your phone is off.
About Onderling
Onderling is the name under which this software is built, and the organisation it is meant to become: one that puts people and communities in charge of their own tools. It is not a company, and it never will be.
We are at the start. What exists is still changing, and most of what Onderling is meant to be is not built yet.
