How it works

Every person gets an assistant of their own: a program that holds their things and acts for them. People form circles, and a circle is where a group keeps what it shares. Every member's assistant keeps a copy, on its owner's own device. Nothing sits in the middle: assistants talk to each other directly, and when they cannot, something passes their sealed messages along without being able to read them. You reach your assistant through whichever door you like.

Your data stays yours

What you write down, agree on and keep track of is stored with you: on your own devices, or in online storage that is yours and nobody else's. Because the data is yours and not the app's, any tool made the same way can work with it, and leaving means taking everything with you.

What you share stays with the group

A circle can be a household, a club, a few friends. Its things travel from device to device, encrypted, and on the same wifi without the internet. When two devices cannot reach each other, a relay passes the traffic on without being able to read it. We run one for people who have none; anyone can run their own.

An assistant you can trust

Your assistant keeps your things and acts on what you ask, from whichever door you use: the Basis app, Telegram, or a small device at home that keeps things running while your phone is off. Add an AI model if you want one, on your own computer or in a European enclave that even its operator cannot look into. Without one, the assistant still does what you tell it.

Shaped to your needs

Everything is made of parts: the assistant, the circles, the ways in, the storage, the relay. Use what you need, replace what you do not, build your own on top. The code is open, so you can check it, or have it checked by someone you trust.
